The St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church Autumn Seniors Concert proved once again to be a popular event on the calendar of rest-home residents from far and wide.

Co-organiser Margaret Scott said residents from Wyndham and Districts Community Rest Home, Parata, Albany House, Resthaven and Windsor Park made up the audience.

“We’ve got people from Clinton,” Mrs Scott said.

Others travelled from Lumsden to enjoy the afternoon’s entertainment.

“We get a good crowd,” she said.

Entertainers at the concert were Glenise Terry, Marion and John MacKenzie and Wes Gentle.

Co-organiser Joy Carter said she got a “kick out of” hosting the concerts, which had been run for more than 10 years.

inator Roszanne Davidson thanked the volunteers for helping rest-home residents in and out of vehicles at the venue.

“They are so valuable. We wouldn’t be able to do it without them,” she said.

“Everyone loves coming here.”

An afternoon tea is served at the end of the concert.

“The home baking is absolutely outstanding,” Mrs Davidson said.

Two concerts are held each year, in autumn and at Christmas. Mrs Scott and Mrs Carter organise the concerts.
