Children will pour into the Calvin Community Church for the annual Angels and Heroes party at the end of the month.
Calvin Community Church youth worker Karo Wilson said organisers were looking forward to seeing the children turn up at the event.
“As usual, there will be plenty of games, face-painting, balloon animals and prizes for your family to enjoy,” she said.
For the first time this year organisers are introducing some healthy food and drink options in the snack area, as well as adding some non-food rewards to its prize shop, she said.
“Other than that it’s the same event,” she said.
There are two sessions being held on Tuesday, October 31, at 4.30pm to 6pm and 6.30pm to 8pm, Miss Wilson said.
“People can come to both sessions.”
However, traditionally younger children attended the early session and older ones the later session, she said.
Children did not have to dress up but they could come dressed in costumes with a circus theme if they chose to, Miss Wilson said.
There will be prizes on offer for a variety of competitions such as costume prizes and colouring competitions which had been distributed to schools and pre-schools. she said.
While it was free to attend, the event attendees needed to have a ticket. Tickets could be picked up at the church office or Manna bookstores, she said.
Last year the two sessions attracted 800 children. she said. There were also about 100 volunteers needed to run the event, she said.
