A brightly lit inflatable dance room going up at the Gore Trout reserve is sure to create interest in the Youmove Festival to be held tomorrow.
The day coincides with International Dance Day and is a first for Gore.
Organiser Nicole Parry said the festival would consist of a full day of workshops in a variety of dance styles.
The aim of the event was to invite the community to celebrate in dance, while having fun and being active.
“I just thought that dance should be accessible; it’s just a fun, have-a-go day,” Miss Parry said.
The festival is aimed at children and adults.
Dance styles on offer included hip-hop, ballet, belly dancing, contemporary, line dancing, Highland dancing, zumba and yoga.
In all, there would be 15 workshops with 12 teachers, Miss Parry said.
The dance workshops would run from 9am to 6pm.
A dance celebration party would follow.
The festival would be staged in the Little Theatre and at the Trout reserve, where an inflatable cube would go up. Zumba and hip-hop workshops and the dance party would be held in the cube, which had more than a touch of glitz and glamour, she said.
