A dance troupe that only formed at the end of April has come home from the New Zealand Competitive Aerobic Federation’s secondary schools hip-hop section with a third placing.
Jade School of Dance teacher Nicole Parry, who tutors the troupe, called Eruption, was extremely pleased with the weekend’s result.
“They were so happy,” Miss Parry said.
“I was really pleased; they had worked extremely hard.”
The troupe had improved “out of sight”, she said.
The troupe consisted of eight dancers, aged from 10 to 12.
The recent round of competitions was the dance troupe’s first, she said.
The group had gelled and they were good friends.
Just being at the competition had been a learning experience for them.
“It’s a really awesome competition – very friendly.”
She was nervous for the troupe at the competition, Miss Parry said.
“It’s been really good fun. It’s been very rewarding.”
