A Greenvale beekeeper who has never sung on stage before is performing in Gore Musical Theatre’s Take a Walk on the Wild Side

Caleb Gilchrist was having a few drinks with a friend when the subject of the theatre restaurant came up and they decided to give it a go.

“I’ve always envied people who have done this sort of thing and thought it was time to give it a crack,” he said.

“I’ve never been on stage in front of anybody.”

He is enthusiastic about his foray into acting and his roles, which include Teen Wolf.

He said he was thoroughly enjoying getting to know the cast and performing in the show.

“It’s good – it probably won’t be my last one.”

Mr Gilchrist described those involved in the theatre restaurant production as being a good bunch of people.

Being involved in the show also provided an opportunity to make new friends.

Mr Gilchrist said he took a relaxed view of life and was hoping the nerves would not kick in once he was on stage.

The beekeeper is singing the solo Bad Moon Rising and duets with Levi Lee on House of the Rising Sun and We Gotta Get Out Of This Place

He also plays a ghostbuster.

He said the show was really interactive, with the cast mingling with the audience.

“It’s all about getting the crowd involved.”

The show opened last night and runs until November 10.
