Ann La Hood has not been on stage since appearing in school productions but she decided to give acting a go in the Gore Repertory Society’s production of Motel.
Ms La Hood is a pharmacist in the family business La Hoods the Chemist, the mother of three children and married to Gore Hospital chief executive Karl Metzler. She is thoroughly enjoying her acting experience.
Director Paul McPhail told Ms La Hood there could be a part for her in the coming play.
‘‘I thought, why not,’’ Ms La Hood said.
The rehearsals had been fun. The play was quite funny but it also had its intense moments, she said.
‘‘It’s four different stories.’’
The play comprises four vignettes.
The only character to appear all the way through is the motel manager, played by Sean Burke of Gore, who is described as being a bit creepy.
‘‘It’s just a cleverly written story.’’
The other cast members were supportive and she paid tribute to Mr McPhail and Helen Seaton for their excellent directing skills. The cast were all extremely talented.
The play opens today, with other performances tomorrow, Friday and Saturday.
