Craig Wadsworth is ready to dazzle the audience in the musical Chicago this week.

Wadsworth said the crowd could expect a fast-paced show with good songs and choreography.

“The audience should be prepared for an exciting and fun show.”

Cast members were well-prepared as the show was put off for a year because of Covid-19, he said.

“It has been a long wait for us all, so we can’t wait.”

He was looking forward to finally performing in front of an audience.

“We’ve been rehearsing the show without a crowd, so I’m looking forward to finally performing in front of people.”

He first played the character Billy Flynn in 2014 as a part of the Best of Broadway show.

“It was basically a show with a range of musical numbers from different productions.

“I sang We Both Reached For The Gun. So from there I had always wanted to play Billy Flynn.”

He described Billy Flynn as an “arrogant, suave and confident” character.

“He is intriguing because he always knows what to say and I love the songs he sings.”

He enjoyed singing the songs All I Care About, We Both Reached For The Gun and Razzle Dazzle

The best part of being a part of the show was the camaraderie between the cast members.

“You build friendships over time and it’s a thrill to perform together on stage.”

Wadsworth had been a part of the Gore Musical Theatre since 2009.

“My first show was Jesus Christ Superstar and since then I have been a part of the shows whether on stage or off stage.”

He was grateful for his past experiences on stage as it helped him prepare for this production.

“I’ve acted with the Gore Musical Theatre a few times and the West Otago Theatrical Society a couple of times and recently did a cameo for Annie, so it is all still fresh in my blood.”
