A night of entertainment and food is planned as a fundraiser for Daffodil Day.
The fundraising event will be held at the Gore RSA on August 31, starting at 7pm.
Organiser Julie Mitchell, from Bayleys Real Estate, has been involved in running Daffodil Day fundraisers for more than 20 years.
She said as well as the entertainment, there would be a buffet meal available, with $5 from each meal donated to the Daffodil Day fund.
The entertainment would include Triple Shot, consisting of Invercargill musicians Simon Thompson, Chris Chilton and Matt Ward, Mrs Mitchell said.
Other entertainers would include Ron Mitchell, Jo Ward, Bonnie Turner, Stephen Hayes, Jenny Mitchell, the Hokonui Celtic Pipe Band and Southland Entertainer of the Year Lachie Hayes.
Special guest artist would be fiddler Marian Burns, from Auckland.
“We’ve got a pretty good line-up,” Mrs Mitchell said.
This is the second year the fundraiser has been held in Gore; previously it was hosted at the Mataura RSA.
Mrs Mitchell said there would be no cover charge at the event, but donations were welcome and there would be a variety of raffles for sale on the night.
“We want people to bring along their money, be generous [and] enjoy the fabulous night’s entertainment.”
The event was held last year and was very successful, with the buffet meal selling out.
“So to ensure [they] get the seat [they] want, people need to book in for dinner by phoning the RSA and [securing] their seats.”
