Charity golf to help museum

Following the success of 2015’s tournament, the Wyndham Young Farmers Charity Golf Tournament returns this Sunday.
The Ambrose tournament is to be held at noon at Bruce and Carolynn Robertson’s farm, 40 Mimihau School Rd, Wyndham.
Wyndham Young Farmers publicity officer Allesha Ballard said feedback from the last event had helped when organising this one.
“The community has been full of support for the event, with businesses in Wyndham and around the district helping out,” Ms Ballard said.
About 60 teams of four took part in the last event and organisers hoped to have as many this time.
“We have nine holes sponsored by businesses in the community and all based around a theme. One of the holes last time had golfers chip into a pond,” she said.
The day was a “good day out” for everyone, with a barbecue with lamb on a spit, a cash bar, prizegiving and raffles all organised alongside the golf.
“We had a few golfers biking around the course with a chilly bin on the back and there was a good atmosphere, with prizegiving in the shearing shed.”
The first event raised $7000 and all proceeds were donated to the Wyndham and Districts Rest Home.
This time, all proceeds will go towards the Wyndham Museum as it looks for a new home in the area.
Due to building issues at the museum site, it has 13 months to move out of the existing premises.
