The treasurer of the Gore and Districts Senior Citizens Club for half the life of the organisation has handed over the reins.
Allie Forde had given diligent service to the club in her role as treasurer for 22 years, past president Lex Keith said at the club’s annual meeting last Thursday.
Mrs Forde had carried out a variety of tasks, ranging from collecting money from members for the Friday meal to paying accounts, Mr Keith said.
President Brian Kelly said Mrs Forde’s experience and commitment to the treasurer’s job would be missed.
“She’s done a fantastic job for half the life of our movement.”
Mrs Forde said when presented with flowers, she was a bit “gobsmacked”, and thanked members for all they had done to help her throughout the years.
Mrs Forde said she became involved in the club because she wanted to join the choir.
She was involved in the choir for about 20 years and thoroughly enjoyed it,” Mrs Forde said.
“I’ve been a singer all my life.”
She had been the treasurer of many organisations in Gore, which led to her being asked to take on the position at the senior citizens club, she said.
“I’ve done that kind of thing all my life,” she said.
She totally enjoyed her involvement in the club and intended to stay active in the club.
