Hosting Shrek The Musical JR has had a welcome spin-off for Eastern Southland organisation Happy2Help.

Gore Musical Theatre (GMT) hosted the production of Shrek The Musical JR last month.

GMT vice-president Yvette Davis said at the end of the shows the audience was invited to come on stage and have their photos taken with their favourite character, for a gold coin donation.

“We did that for every show,” Mrs Davis said.

It was decided to donate the money to a children’s help organisation as the show included a cast of children and teens and was aimed at a younger audience, Mrs Davis said.

GMT decided to give $360 worth of supermarket vouchers, which was the amount donated through the photo sessions, to an organisation in the area, she said.

Happy2Help was chosen as the recipient.

Paige Kirk set up Happy2Help, which offers help to Gore district families who are in challenging circumstances, such as grandparents raising grandchildren, families affected by illness, loss of income, foster families, or those affected by events such as fire.

Happy2Help volunteer Sarah Wiegersma said the organisation was incredibly grateful for the donation of vouchers.Running sportsAir Jordan Release Dates Calendar
