Gang gathers for show

Southland Gang Show, Fourteen Eastern Southland Scouts and Guides have been singing, dancing and acting their way through rehearsals for the Southland Gang Show.

Scouts from Gore and Edendale and Guides from Gore and Invercargill will perform at the Civic Theatre in Invercargill next week.

This year’s Southland Gang Show is the first in 23 years and involves a cast of 44, aged from 10 upwards.

1st Gore Scout Group leader and cast member Karlene Guthrie said the Gang Show was a variety show for all ages.

“The nature of the show is it’s family entertainment,” Mrs Guthrie said.

The show will consist of comedy skits, dances and songs.

Mrs Guthrie’s son Brae (10) is also in the cast.

He has been on stage before in several Invercargill Junior Repertory Society productions.

Brae said he was enjoying performing.

*The Southland Gang Show is on Thursday, October 6, Friday, October 7 and Saturday, October 8 at 7pm, with a matinee on Saturday at 2pm.
