The winner of the annual Gore Truck show, Alex McLellan, says he is humbled and proud to have been part of the weekend show.
“The standard was hugely high,” he said.
McLellan Freight owner Mr McLellan said his team had spent the last six months restoring their entry to “show quality”.
Mr McLellan said this was not his first time entering.
“I couldn’t even tell you how many times we have entered.”
The 1964 Leyland Hippo was bought by McLellan in 2003, and restored.
Mr McLellan said he entered the Leyland Hippo in the show for the first time in 2004.
“We won King Rig in 2004 with the Leyland Hippo as well.”
He and his team were happy to have won with the same truck again.
“The fellow competitors deserve a mention. We are really proud of everyone.
“To come straight from off the road and making their truck show-worthy is really something and a real credit to them.”
“The standard was hugely high,” Mr McLellan said.
Other winners included Brett Harland of Southern Transport, with the best tip truck; Richard Roche, from JPM Holdings, with the best tractor unit; and Darrin Taylor, from McDonough Contracting, with the best light vehicle.Sports ShoesBoots
