A $50,000 Community Trust of Southland grant has enabled the Gore Kids Hub Trust to extend its car park. Trust member Bronnie Grant said the decision to extend the car park was made because the 22 spaces were not enough for those regularly using the facility. ‘‘There’s at least three days of the week, every week, that the car park is overflowing,’’ Mrs Grant said. People had been parking along the driveway and on Wayland St, which was not ideal on wet days when parents were trying to get children and babies into the facility, she said. The car park would be extended by another 12 parks, she said. The grant would easily cover the cost of the extension and any surplus funds would go towards the building of the public playground at the hub, Mrs Grant said. Croydon Contracting had already started work on the extension. It was expected the new car parks would be ready for use at the beginning of February.
