Rest-home has its own RSA centennial party

Having more than a dozen Gore and Districts RSA members as residents prompted Parata Day Care to organise its own 100-year celebration.

The RSA held its celebration during the weekend and the rest-home complex held its celebration on Friday.

Parata Day Care activity co-ordinator Dawn McDonald said there was a variety of entertainment on offer for those who attended.

“We’ve got 14 RSA members,” Mrs McDonald said.

The entertainment at the celebration including hip-hop dancers, a jazz group, ballroom dancers and singer Briana Hedley.

“We had a Parata choir of staff and Friends of Parata,” she said.

The celebration finished with a high supper.

“So that was really nice.”

Caregiver Dorothy Youngman also helped plan and host the celebration, she said.
