Wyndham man and Wyndham rugby club player Nathan Bee is returning to Miss Hokonui, although this time around he had to put on his best face for the camera.
Mr Bee, dressed as a woman, will feature for April in the Miss Hokonui 2018 calendar, which is raising money for the community.
“[Organiser] Colleen [Te Au] gave me a call and asked if I would be keen to do it again for a good cause and it’s pretty hard to say no with all the time and effort she puts into it,” Mr Bee said. “Plus it’s always a bit off a laugh and is going towards a good cause.”
Mr Bee said he was not too nervous, as a few people had already seen him dolled up for the cameras.
He thought he was picked for the job because of his reputation.
“I’m not really sure how I got involved. Colleen must have picked up that I’m an idiot in front of a crowd, so I guess that fits right into the show.”
The best part of it was meeting new people and his least favourite bit was that he would be on people’s walls.
“To be honest, I am more nervous about the calendar, because it’s a photo that is on someone’s wall for a whole month. Unlike the show, [where] you just walk out, get laughed at, then walk away and it’s over with.”
“Yeah nah, it’s not hard, really; second time round was a breeze.”
Mr Bee urged people to go out and buy a calendar.
“Get among the fun. Buy a calendar and support Colleen and the team for all the hard work that has gone into raising money for a good cause.”
Miss Te Au said she had not planned to have Mr Bee back for the calendar but he was more than happy to do it again.
“This year it was a lot easier to get guys involved. The first year was hard, as they were unsure what it was.”
She said Mr Bee’s photographer, Hannah March, had also enjoyed herself.
“She said it was most hilarious thing she had ever done.”
The calendar is family friendly and the public are encouraged to vote for their favourite club. Voting will end at midnight on December 31.
The winning rugby club will receive its profits from the votes and other money will be distributed in the community.
