The Gore Vintage Car Club’s members are running their annual swap meet and car boot sale next weekend.
Event organiser Evan Henderson said this event was the only fundraiser they hold outside the club.
“All other money comes from membership fees,” Mr Henderson said.
The money raised from the swap meet would go back into the club.
The swap meet was a chance for people who did not want to have a garage sale to load up their car boot, ute or trailer with items they wanted to sell, he said.
“People can sell whatever they want, from motor vehicles to a ball of wool.”
When the club started the swap meet about 40 years ago it was a twice-yearly event. However, seven years ago it was made an annual event.
The swap meet used to be held in April but for the past two years it had been in March.
“The weather was not in our favour in April,” Mr Henderson said.
If people want to set up a stall, all they have to do is turn up at the club rooms in Waimea St at 7.30am on Sunday, March 19.
It costs $8 to set up a stall, which includes an entry fee.
The gates open at 8am, admittance is $5 and there will be hot food available.
Mr Henderson also encouraged young people who had an interest in vintage cars to join the club.
“The club is open to anyone; you do not have to own a vintage car to join,” he said.
A lot of the people in the club also lent their cars to members who did not have cars, he said.
The club met on the second Tuesday of each month and people interested in joining the club were welcome to come along, Mr Henderson said.
