Des Brewster, of Gore, likes his old Triumph cars.
He has owned the 1977 Triumph 2500 TC for about five years and loves to drive it around town.
He said he used it all the time.
“It is not one of these cars that just gets driven at a rally then put back in the garage.
“I treat it as our second car and use it accordingly.”
A mechanic by trade, Mr Brewster is happy to do any work required on the Triumph.
“It is a manual four-speed with overdrive in 3rd and 4th gears.
“I have had to do the odd repair, like leaking seals, new clutch and general maintenance, but it is a nice roomy car to travel in and not overly expensive to buy.”
It still has the original engine and paint.
“Considering it is 44 years old, it is still in very good nick.”
Mr Brewster has driven the car to Ashburton and Central Otago and does take it out on rallies.
“Heading out on rallies gives the opportunity to catch up with like-minded people, and get to see some stunning scenery.”
