Eighty minutes of rugby flew by on Saturday with Pukerau coming out on top over Bluff at home.
The Senior C Presidents match was played at top pace with both teams looking to run the ball.
A. Muir Shearing Pukerau outscored Waxy O’Shea’s-Bluff Engineering & Welding Bluff five tries to two for a 27-10 victory on its club day.
Club president and player Bevan Williams enjoyed the day and was impressed with his team’s play.
‘‘Wesley Vetters was the player of the day for us. He was all around the park, always amongst everything for the forwards.’’
Williams said the match was a good way to celebrate the club day.
It was great to have many of the long-time supporters of the club and life members come down for the match, he said.
After the match wrapped up, the teams and their supporters were treated to an aftermatch function, including ‘‘a big feed’’, prior to the All Blacks test.
‘‘I would like to thank the Bluff boys for bringing along the mussels and oysters, they were a nice wee entree.’’
The main course included mutton and pig on a spit.
