Fashion show inspired by stars

Clinton Primary School pupils strutted their stuff during a wearable art show with outfits inspired by Matariki, the Maori New Year.
The pupils created outfits out of recycled material.
Junior teacher Vicki Sanders said the focus of the school’s environmental group was recycling and reducing rubbish and the school decided to make wearable arts out of recycled material.
The Matariki project began on Thursday. The school’s 76 pupils learnt about the stars and created artwork, Mrs Sanders said.
The pupils then created their costumes and held a fashion show for family on Friday.
Working together, or ‘‘mahi tahi’’, has been a theme recently promoted at Clinton School.
They were put into mixed age groups and learnt how to work together.
‘‘Putting the children in smaller groups was a real nice example of them being able to help each other out.’’
