Buyers drawn from near and far


Ram buyers and sellers from throughout the South Island flocked to Gore on Tuesday and Wednesday for the annual Gore A&P Association Ram Fair. More than 300 rams went through the ring at the Gore Showgrounds over the two days. The top price of the annual sale was one of Anton Gibson’s Drycreek Suffolk rams, which was sold to Canterbury buyers Warwick Seaton and Andrew Adams for $10,500. The top Perendale ram was sold by Julie Wilson and Peter Christie’s Hinerua stud, of McNab, to Blair Smith, of Oamaru, and Robert Gardyne, of Oturehua, for $7800. The top Coopworth ram was sold by Chris Wilson, of South Hillend, to Shaun and Martina Lawlor, of Croydon, for $1100. The top Romney ram was sold for $4400 to Blair Robertson, of Waikoikoi, from Ashburton breeder Dave Wyllie.
