High standard at dog trials, organisers say

Out of four events, Mr Dickison and his dog Cole won two and came second in two.

Mr Dickison was pleased with the result.

“I’ve had a really good trial,” he said.

“It’s been really good. We have had a great day trialling. It’s been very successful.”

The sheep were well worked before the trial, so they were used to being rounded up.

The sheep used in the heading events ran well but those used in the hunt events were very testing for the triallists, Mr Dickison said.

The trials attracted competitors from throughout Southland and Otago.
