Dominant display

Mossburn kept its slim semifinal hopes alive with a comprehensive 32-5 win over Marist last Friday.
Mossburn dominated the game and led 12-0 at halftime after centre Ryan Healy scored twice in the opening 15 minutes.
‘‘I’m pretty wrapped with the turnaround the guys have made in the last month. We knew they would hit us hard, but I think we stood strong,’’ co-coach Greg Tither said.
‘‘I was impressed with [the] defence of the guys . . .We made a few changes towards the end there, which maybe broke up our patterns a wee bit overall, [but] we can be happy with the attitude of the team.’’
The result was a huge turnaround from the fourthround clash, which Marist won 40-18. After a sloppy opening passage where Marist failed to capitalise on a wealth of possession, Healy crossed the line from Mossburn’s first real chance.
Mossburn continued its strong performance in the second spell, with a penalty and tries to Harley Ware and Hamish Elder giving the side a bonus-point win.
Mossburn sits in sixth place on the table with three rounds remaining and still has a shot at the semifinals.
