Waikaka Golf Club member and secretary Dianne Cleland shot her third hole in one on the club course this month.
She was playing a Stableford competition during the club’s weekly women’s day and hit her hole in one on the 13th hole.
“It was a par 3 and it was 140m,” Cleland said.
Cleland, who plays off a 16 handicap, joined the Waikaka Golf Club when it opened in 1974.
“This is my third hole in one. The last one I got was in 2001. The time prior to that was 2000,” she said.
“The last hole in one [at the club] was by [club member] Garth Cross this year in July.
“The last female to get a hole in one was Janis Steele about two or three years ago.”
Cleland said she bought new clubs this year but was unsure whether they had anything to do with it.
“It’s a fluke, really .. with a lucky bounce in front of the green.
To celebrate she shouted her fellow golfers a drink after play.
Waikaka Golf Club president George Lamb said Cleland was a valuable member of the club.
“She has always worked hard and she is very deserving,” Lamb said.
