To kick off the netball season Southern Steel players taught drills, skills and techniques to pupils from Gore High School and Longford Intermediate School.

Steel players involved were Sarahpheinna Woulf (back left), Taneisha Fifita, Ali Wilshier (front left) and Te Huinga Reo Selby-Rickit.

Selby-Rickit said it was encouraging to see the girls supporting each other.

“There is a wide range of ages here, from intermediate to high school but it’s cool to see the older girls mentoring the younger ones.”

Gore High School netball committee member Jo Michaels said the day was great fun for everyone.

“I’ve seen lots of laughing and fun and that’s all it is really about.”
