Tokanui turns tables on Waikiwi

Tokanui completed an impressive turnaround with its 19-17 victory over Waikiwi in its Southlandwide Division One clash on Saturday.
Tokanui had lost 59-7 to Waikiwi in their first round encounter earlier this season, but the home side was a different beast this time around.
Each side was guilty of making plenty of handling errors, but Tokanui came out ahead in a mistake-riddled second 40 to allow it to hold on to its halftime lead of 19-17. The two-point win is Tokanuiā€™s second victory of the season.
Despite Waikiwi having the majority of the ball in the second half, it was unable to get out of the middle of the park.
The two forward packs were quite even until Tokanui managed to gain the upper hand in the final stages.
The victory is great reward for coach Alan Marshall and his players after Tokanui suffered big losses to Edendale, Waikaka and Ohai-Nightcaps in the previous three weeks.
