The family fun activities in Mataura this week have been going well.
The activities were organised by the Community Development Office and community groups to keep children entertained.
Mataura community development co-ordinator Eleanor Ranstead said she was pleased with the events so far.
“We have had children turn up to every event,” Mrs Ranstead said.
“The children that have come have really enjoyed themselves.”
On Monday, children took part in computer gaming, she said.
“There were seven in the morning and eight in the afternoon. They had a lot of fun.”
On Tuesday they went for a walk around Mataura.
“It was a lovely day for a walk.”
Families joined men at the Blokes’ Shed on Wednesday to make toy cars, she said.
“We had 10 kids by the end of the day.”
All the children were able to take home a wooden car they had made, Mrs Ranstead said.
“They had a fabulous time.”
Yesterday morning, 10 children turned up to learn about robotics with Southern Reap, she said.
“I’m pleased with how families have supported each event.”
Today there were two activities on, a tour of Mataura Museum from 1pm until 4pm and a Family Fun Games Evening at 7pm at the Mataura Community Centre.
“Please bring something to share for supper.”
Mrs Ranstead planned to hold more family activities during future school holidays.
