West Otago Theatrical Society is calling all budding performers to take part in its 2018 show.
The society will hold a synopsis for its upcoming show, Les Miserables, at the West Otago Community Centre on February 7 at 7.30pm.
Director Margie Rea encouraged people to audition no matter how much experience they had.
“It doesn’t matter whether you have lots of experience or no experience.
“I don’t want people to be put off because they don’t think they are good enough,” Rea said.
She hoped people would come and give it a go.
“It’s a chance for people to show us what they can do.
“It shouldn’t be scary.”
Auditions were not just for people from West Otago, she said.
“It is a show that draws people from all over. People love the show and love the music.”
She was hoping for a big turnout for auditions.
“There are a lot of parts to fill.”
She was looking for people who wanted to be involved in a team.
People auditioning would be asked to sing but would also be pushed out of their comfort zone, Rea said.
“I often get them to walk on the stage.”
Rehearsals would start as soon as a cast was decided on.
“We will be straight into it.”
She had decided to wait until after the holiday period to hold auditions, she said.
“It’s a very disjointed time so we decided to start in the new year.”
Les Miserables will be staged from June 22 to June 30.
The auditions will also be held at the West Otago Community Centre and will take place from February 9 to 11.
