The Gore Pakeke Lions Club is hosting its annual book sale today and tomorrow in the Hokonui Pavilion at the Gore A&P Showgrounds. AMANDA CARRINGTON asked two people if they are going to the book sale, why they go and what they thought the benefits of the sale to the community were.
Carol Dawson, of Gore . . . ‘‘We usually do. To get books and to support the Pakeke Lions. The Pakeke Lions put a lot into the community and as residents we appreciate the fact we have the facilities because of the good work of the likes of the Lions. We all benefit from it.’’
Keven Dawson, of Gore . . . ‘‘We know most of the Lions members. [The book sale] is the one thing that people get involved in. The fact that they can make good sales and make money through donations given by the community is good.’’
