Cast members are gearing up for the Southern District Arts Trust’s production of Mystery on the Orient Express .

Performances take place today and tomorrow at 7.30pm at the Tokanui Hall.

The show has plenty of audience participation and promises to be absolutely hilarious, director Marylyn Hayes said.

‘‘It’s a spoof of Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express .

‘‘This is Mystery on the Orient Express so you’ve got to guess what the mystery is.’’

The cast consists of some ‘‘amazing local talent’’ playing a range of characters, from Sherlock Holmes to Inspector Gadget.

After a four-year hiatus due to Covid-19, they were excited to be back on stage, she said.

Audience members were welcome to dress in 1920s clothing ‘‘to get in the spirit of it’’.

Tickets are available from Tokanui Food Centre, Waimahaka Garage or any member of the cast or trust, or by calling Ms Hayes on 027-346-8446. Doors open at 7pm.
