The guest artist at the Waikaka Arts and Crafts Exhibition has almost 30 years’ experience in the creative field.
Te Tipua-based artist Margaret Palmer-McKenzie is the guest artist this year and will be opening the exhibition on November 4.
She had pieces of artwork ready to go for the event.
‘‘I’ve put three works in, so we’ll see how it goes,’’ Ms Palmer-McKenzie said.
Her artwork is varied and she creates most of it in her home studio, she said.
She already had a plan as to how she would open her speech.
‘‘I’ll just go ‘Hello, welcome to the show. It’s fabulous you’re here. Now, one, two, three, shop.’’’
Previous guest artists have included Jono Gardyne, Hannah Joynt, Jasmine Keir, Julie Duncan among many more.
This year will be the 47th time the event is held. More than 60 artists will be exhibiting, with the majority coming from Otago and Southland.
Exhibition secretary Frances Calvert said they were pleased to have many new exhibitors.
‘‘With so many being from southern New Zealand too, it’s great to be able to support them and showcase their work.’’
The Waikaka Lodge will be open daily from noon to 5 pm, from Saturday, November 4 to Thursday, November 9.
