More than 130 rest-home residents enjoyed an ensemble of war-era songs at the annual St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church autumn concert in Gore last month.
Residents in attendance came from Albany House, Enliven Resthaven Village, Parata and Windsor Park.
A community bus brought people from Clinton to the April 23 event, and others came from Owaka.
Co-conveners Joy Carter and Margaret Scott said it was a great afternoon.
“It was great to see so many people enjoying themselves.”
Performers at the concert were the Gore and District Seniors Citizens Choir and With One Voice.
“The two groups were well received,” Mrs Carter said.
“A lot of those who were attending knew the Anzac songs’ words and sang them back.”
Songs included We’ll Meet Again and Wish Me Luck As You Wave Me Goodbye
Mrs Scott said it was a privilege to perform as a part of the senior citizens choir this year.
“We are all one big family and we all enjoy the fellowship and the company.”
The choir had about 20 members but was “always on the lookout for new members”, she said.
