The Freeze Ya Bits Off busking competition was held in Gore’s Main St from Friday to Sunday.
The competition is one of the key events of the Bayleys Tussock Country music festival.
The finals were held at the SBS St James Theatre on Sunday afternoon.
The Harmony Hunters of Nelson won the open group category, Josh Keating of Kaiapoi won the individual open and Kelmo, from Invercargill, won the under-14-year old category.
Council events coordinator Jessica Swan said there were about 30 entries in the competition.
‘‘It was fantastic.
‘‘We had a really good turnout of not just highquality buskers but also first-timers and people just coming to support the event and the people doing it.’’
It was the first time the final had been staged in the theatre and had worked well.
‘‘The sound was great, it was awesome having lighting and so much seating available — and snacks.’’
