After 20 years of management, the Scenic Hotel Group is handing the reins of the Heartland Croydon Hotel back to the Mataura Licensing Trust.

The operations and management changeover began at the start of last week.

Trust general manager Mark Paterson said the transition had gone smoothly.

“We are feeling good about it all and I think it is time for us to get back to it.”

He acknowledged the great work relationship the trust had with the Scenic Circle Group over the years.

The contract was first signed with the Scenic Circle on October 29 2001.

Former Scenic Hotel Group managing director Brendan Taylor said the return of the management to MLT was a natural progression in the business and signalled the long-term and mutually beneficial relationship.

Heartland Hotel Croydon was a consistent and strong performer for the group and its owners over the past 20 years, Mr Taylor said.
