A new half basketball court has been laid in the Oxford St playground.
The court was one of the items on East Gore residents’ wish list after a survey was completed in 2021.
The only community-led project of its kind in the South Island, the NPS aims to improve play opportunities for all age groups and abilities.
Active Southland community school connector Cheyenne Ballantine said most of the pupils had been involved at the beginning of the project to search for ideas to make East Gore more play-friendly.
It was ‘‘really awesome’’ for the pupils to see the court become a reality, Ms Ballantine said.
