Helloworld Travel manager Kelly Morrison is ‘‘over excited’’ to be back in business as a travel consultant.

Gore’s new travel agent opened its doors on Wednesday, and is the only agency in the town.

The two previous travel consultants closed their doors after Covid-19 measures restricted travel.

Mrs Morrison said she was looking forward to helping people with their travel needs.

‘‘I can’t describe my excitement for starting back.’’

People were keen to start travelling again, Mrs Morrison said.

‘‘That great travel revival is back on.

‘‘There [are] more people wanting to travel than we have travel consultants at the moment. It’s such a busy industry.’’

People had been ‘‘cooped up’’ for two years, Mrs Morrison said.

‘‘The rest of the world has been travelling for about a year and-a-half.

‘‘We’ve been locked away and not allowed to do anything.’’

Financial pressures meant many people were being careful about spending money but planning a holiday could lift their spirits.

‘‘Having something exciting booked to look forward to, that you can count down to, perks people up.’’

In the past people booked their own travel arrangements.

However, in the present climate where countries had different entry requirements that were likely to change, it was wise to use a travel consultant who could keep people up to date with what was required, she said.

The business would employ two full-time staff and one part-time.

The business is owned by the Clement family members Paul, Philippa, Aimee and Josh.

Ms Clement said she and her mother Philippa were keen travellers.

‘‘We wanted to start up a travel shop in Gore.’’

It was good to have Mrs Morrison managing the shop as she was very experienced and knowledgeable, she said.
