Everyone is welcome to celebrate ‘‘Christmas with an international flavour’’ this Sunday at the Mataura Community Centre.

Hosted by the International Connect Group, its founder Andrea Greer said the Christmas party would be a celebration of all different cultures.

‘‘We’ve missed out on all the different celebrations with Covid.

‘‘We haven’t been able to do Sri Lankan New Year, we haven’t been able to do Chinese New Year and all these other events.

‘‘So this Christmas, we thought to make it a real multi-cultural Christmas celebration.’’

The family event would have a bouncy castle, performances, activities, games and of course, Santa Claus.

‘‘Everybody brings a secret Santa gift . . .up to the value $5. So everybody will leave the party with a gift.’’

The event was free, but people were asked to bring food to share in the form of a potluck.

‘‘People can just bring a dish. . .that represents what Christmas means to them in their culture, so it doesn’t have to be Christmas ham or Christmas turkey.’’

The party would start at noon and end at 3pm.

‘‘Anyone is welcome. We don’t want anybody to be celebrating Christmas on their own.’’
