The Southland Hawke Cup team will play in Gore on Sunday.
The team will play a friendly match against the Otago under-19 team at Hamilton Park.
Four Eastern Southland players — Kieran Lloyd, Kurt Thompson, Jared McKenzie and Ben McCall — will play in the side.
Southland Cricket general manager Lauren Roney said it was exciting to be able to play in Gore.
‘‘It’s really nice for them to be able to play in other parts of Southland. It will be good to get a few locals along.’’
Southland Cricket development officer Jack Hilton will organise games for younger players before the match starts at 11am.
‘‘Then they will be able to stay and watch the game and hopefully interact with the players.’’
Southland will play the winner of the Canterbury Country or Hawke’s Bay game later next month.
Hawke’s Bay holds the cup at present.
