Former Gore athlete Tori Peeters competes at the Seiko Golden Grand Prix in Yokohama, Japan, where she finished second with a throw of 63.26m and added 86cm to the New Zealand record which she set in 2022.
Ms Peeters said she was ‘‘stoked’’ with her performance.
‘‘[It was great] to have pieced together not only a PB [personal best] and record throw, but also a series that shows consistency, which is the key to being one of the best in the world. ’’
The competition and atmosphere was great.
‘‘Japan always puts on a fantastic meeting and looks after the athletes well.
‘‘The crowds, stadiums and level of competition all add to performances like the one I had out there on Saturday afternoon.
The 28-year-old knew she still had plenty to work on with her technique.
‘‘I’m really excited by the thought of what that means for the distances that are yet to come.’’ PHOTO: MICHAEL THOMAS MTSPORTS
