Did you have a go at the recent #FunAS Holiday Hunt?
The #FunAS Holiday Hunt (#GoreAS for us Eastern locals) provided an opportunity for families and individuals to explore Hamilton Park in Gore, and spots in Invercargill and Riverton.
Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with more than a thousand people taking part.
Comments from those giving it a go showed there was an appetite for more opportunities of this kind.
The wider provincial event was based on a really successful pilot event here in Gore earlier this year and so we decided to extend it to other areas in Southland, with tremendous success. People told us they loved it.
We even heard stories of some families trying out all four locations, which was awesome.
Here at Active Southland we are always looking for new, interesting and innovative ways to get our community active, and we are especially interested in activities that suit all ages and abilities. It was fantastic to see so many people out and enjoying themselves in their own Southland backyard.
Speaking of things in our backyard, it’s time to pencil the MLT Moonshine Trail into your 2023 calendar.
After missing out in 2022 due to ‘‘you know what’’, we’ll be back on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at Dolamore Park.
Get your bikes or your gym shoes ready for a great day out in the Hokonui Hills.
This year we have a new free opportunity to do a quick walk within the park itself and it’s going to be perfect for anyone and everyone to enjoy. A 2km loop along a newly created path, it’s a fantastic opportunity for people of all ages and abilities to get out and get active and have some fun.
Early-bird entries are opening on November 7 for all the events on the day, so head to activesouthland.co.nz.
