‘‘It’s going to be a tough game . . .if they have their minds in the right place they should come through.’’

He encouraged spectators to come along and support the players.

The Gore High Under-14 rugby team has dispatched Southland Boys’ Red 59-19 to win a final berth in the Southland-wide competition.

The team, which will play Central Southland College on Saturday in Gore, is coached by Richard Pasco and Harry Swain.

Pasco said the team had a very good work ethic and attitude.

‘‘They’re a good wee team. ‘‘When the pressure’s on they really do work hard and defend well and tackle well.

‘‘They don’t drop their lip and give up.’’

The players had made very good progress in the season.

‘‘They turn up to training and work hard at it,’’ Pasco said.

‘‘They deserve to get where they’ve got.

‘‘There’s some really talented wee players but its not just the talent — it’s the work of them all.’’

Gore High U14 were unbeaten in the competition but had a close game against Central Southland earlier in the season.
