Gore Bowling Club members (from left) Ron Elder, Lex Keith, Bruce Heslip were recognised at the club’s annual meeting.
Club president John Speden (right) presented life memberships to Mr Elder and Mr Heslip while Mr Keith was made the first patron of the club.
Mr Speden said the men were all worthy of recognition.
Mr Keith joined the club in 1979 and was well-known for his contribution to bowls Southland-wide.
‘‘He is highly respected in Southland bowling circles.’’
Mr Heslip and Mr Elder had served as club presidents and were always willing to lend a hand, Mr Speden said.
